The third annual Urban Forestry Institute (UFI) will be held on March 13-14, 2014 at the Nova Southeastern University campus located in Fort Lauderdale.

Root and pavement conflicts, sidewalks and trees, trees and construction, and maintenance costs for trees damaging infrastructure are concerns and issues urban foresters deal with on a daily basis. The topics for this year’s conference are designed to teach attendees how to deal with “Trees versus Infrastructure” issues.

Conference topics include:

  • Incorporating Sound Tree Management Principles in the Transportation Infrastructure Planning
  • Why Trees and Sidewalks are Critical to Healthy and Happy Communities
  • Understanding the Role of ADA in Sidewalk Design
  • Utility Infrastructure, Conflicts and Customer Resolution
  • Trees and Construction BMP’s – Keeping Trees Alive in the Urban Forest
  • Incorporating NERC Regulations into Utility Vegetative Management Practices
  • Technology for Managing Trees
